For more than a decade, EAFab has partnered with local educational programs to give students learning opportunities they cannot complete inside a classroom.
At EAFab, we believe the best way to strengthen the steel industry is by investing in students at the high school level. Through partnerships with local schools, technical programs, and workforce development organizations, students gain hands-on experience solving real engineering and manufacturing challenges alongside our engineers, fabricators, and leadership team.
Our students are not completing hypothetical assignments, they're contributing to real projects that help shape our business while discovering what a career in the steel industry looks like. Every project introduces students to professional expectations while showing them the teamwork, accountability, and innovation required in real-world business environments. Many program participants have gone on to study engineering, enter manufacturing careers, or even return to EAFab as interns.

Ongoing student outreach programs
Upper St. Clair High School
Semester-long STEAM consulting projects where students partner with EAFab mentors to solve real operational challenges while learning about manufacturing processes and professional project management.
Industrial Arts Workshop (IAW) Summer Welding Bootcamp
Students are introduced to professional MIG, TIG, and Flux Core welding techniques and safety protocols alongside experienced welders in EAFab's manufacturing facilities.
Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)
CCAC welding students tour EAFab's manufacturing facilities to experience the steel industry firsthand, learn from professional welders, and connect classroom instruction with real industrial applications.
Moon STEM Program
Students connect classroom engineering concepts to manufacturing by machining, assembling, and presenting miniature Ladle Metallurgy Furnace (LMF) components using CNC equipment and fabrication tools.

Every initiative led by our committee is designed to give students practical experience while strengthening the future workforce of the steel industry. From engineering consulting projects and welding education to manufacturing tours and internships, we strive to inspire students to discover rewarding careers in manufacturing and become the next generation of industry leaders.

Educator stories
Working with EAFab has been an invaluable experience for the students in my STEAM course. They have always given us challenging problems to solve and have taken the proposed solutions seriously. The students have benefitted from working directly with engineers and executives in a collaborative effort, and will surely be better prepared for life after high school.
The problems posed to them by EAFab were varied in scope and required the students to explore new subject areas that they might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn about.
They can actually work on something, as opposed to just turning in an assignment for a grade. They have to explain what they did. They have to build it. They have to explain what they did wrong and keep on going.

I was introduced to EAFab through USC's STEAM course, where I was treated with genuine respect and challenged with real engineering problems. The experience was incredibly valuable, shaping how I approach decisions with professionalism. I was shown what it means to be trusted, held to high standards, and treated as a partner, an environment that led me to an internship at EAFab.
My first exposure to real world problem solving was with EAFab in the STEAM program. This experience directed me to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering and eventually a career in consulting. In my role, I will be solving difficult problems for clients which is similar to the work I was able to do with EAFab!
Working with EAFab allowed me to explore the different types of engineering, before I had to actually settle on a single one. They also showed me the importance of different characteristics of the job, while teaching me to adapt varied skills with the help of my colleagues.
