Continuous casting transforms refined molten steel into solid, semi-finished products that serve as the starting point for downstream manufacturing processes. Depending on the final application, steel may be cast into slabs, billets, blooms, strips, ingots, net-shape products, or other forms. The continuous casting process is a critical step in modern steelmaking operations before rolling, forging, or additional processing.
