Shaping and Treating — Finishing Processes

Shaping and Finishing Process

After casting, steel undergoes a variety of shaping and finishing processes to achieve the required mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances, and surface quality for its intended application. Common processes include hot rolling, cold rolling, forging, pickling and oiling, galvanizing, heat treating, and other finishing operations that enhance strength, corrosion resistance, and overall performance.

The processed steel products then go on to serve countless industries, supporting the production of automobiles, buildings, bridges, energy infrastructure, heavy equipment, appliances, and countless other applications that form the foundation of modern society.
