In the steelmaking process, the job is not over once the scrap is melted in the EAF. To meet today’s quality standards, many steel-producing shops rely on an additional furnace, known as the Ladle Metallurgical Furnace (LMF), to polish and refine the molten steel before it’s sent to be cast into its final form. What Is the EAF Roof? The EAF Roof covers the top of the Electric Arc Furnace. It helps keep the extreme heat inside, protects the electrodes, and allows hot gases to escape safely.
